This is an original 1979 hardbound 1st edition complete with original dustjacket. Book is in good condition with minor tears on the dustjacket.
That great historian, Edwin Dawes, has written a beautiful book on the early history of magic from its very beginnings up to Houdini and his death. This is a very "in-depth" study of magic's earlier history as opposed to many of the historical books today. Absolutely fascinating with many wonderful photo reproductions and drawings. 216 pages, fifteen jam-packed chapters of magical history.
